As passionate supporters of The Uganda Project, father and son Martin and Sam Smoothy took on the incredible challenge of swimming the English Channel to raise money for the children’s centre. The pair underwent an intense training program with long-distance swimmer Shelley Taylor-Smith in preparation for the 35km swim in July 2015.
In an amazing effort, they succeeded in completing the swim in 12 hours 52 minutes, and became the first father-son team in the world to swim the English Channel together.
Martin and Sam raised over $5300, which will go towards purchasing a vehicle for Heritage Children’s Centre. The new vehicle will enable the children to be transported much more easily and safely.
A huge congratulations Martin and Sam, and thank you so much for your commitment to supporting The Uganda Project!
